Just do it.

I'm going to blog more.
I need to blog more.
I want to blog more!!!
So I'm going to make this more like a journal so beware:
our blog may be more personal than not.
Starting now I need to get back into blogging.
Just gotta do it.

Kate

My cute husband.

Drew is the cutest, sweetest, nicest person you will ever meet. Luckily if you are going to Dixie University you could possibly have the chance to meet him!
He just barely started college yesterday and I couldn't be a prouder wife. I made him a "good luck" care package and had our families write him good luck notes. I collected them and also put together some school essentials (i.e. folders, notebooks, pens, etc) as well as some fun things such as shoes, mints, and gum, and had him open up his presents the night before school. It was a great idea! He was so excited and happy and I loved putting it all together! [Thank you to our families for their letters, treats, love, and support!!!]  Well, his parents shared their tradition of taking their kids out to breakfast on the first day of school and asked me to keep the tradition alive... so we went out to eat early in the morning before his 8 o'clock class! It was a blast!
I am so excited for what lies ahead for Drew. I know that this is going to be a wonderful experience for both of us! I can't wait to grow, study, and learn alongside my lovely husband.
Like my wonderful great-grandpa Jones said:
"Don't let studying get in the way of your education!"
Good luck cutie!
I love you.
Love,
Kate

Late night ramblings.

I work at Christensen's department store and I want to buy all of their clothes.
I don't like ground beef and I don't like cooking with it.
I don't really like spaghetti either.
Drew made wonderful chocolate chip cookies today!
{he's the cutest ever}
My nails are pink right now.
Since when did I ever like the color pink?
Me & Drew have sleepovers every single night.
The yellow, pink, red, and blue otter pops are my favorite.
I'm getting used to the hot St. George summertime heat!
Drew and I share one car.
I've only seen 2 alive cockroaches while I have been down here.
Thank goodness they haven't been anywhere near our home.
We can see the very tip top of the temple from our porch.
We love going to the temple together!
I ate a whole cantaloupe by myself pretty much.
Drew and I get to see my family on Friday!!! I can't wait.
I love graphic design.
I love to paint.
AND most importantly...
I absolutely love being a wife. It's more than I have ever dreamed of.
Oh, and let's not forget... I'm married to my best friend! He lights up my life every single day!
Love,
Kate

Water color portraits..

I've decided I want to paint more.
How much would you pay for your own personal watercolor portrait painted by me?
Let me know.
Because I would love to do it for you or a friend.

Fishlake Hansen Reunion

Drew and I got to go to Fishlake for the Hansen reunion the weekend before moving down to St. George and boy were we glad we got to go!! It was a blast and a well needed -get-a-way- before the big move and the stresses that would come with it.
We spent most the time playing games with all our family, laughing lots, and eating plenty of good food.
How else do you think we keep our figures? Let's be honest. Ha ha our family LOVES food!
We also love the outdoors.
One evening we took a trip to the lake with some of the cousins.
We walked around Twin Creeks and some of the kids were crazy enough to go out in the lake.
 There they go!
If you're not familiar with Fishlake, it is a very deep water lake that is extremely cold!

That is why I say those kids were crazy.
I stayed on the shore happily dry with my camera and the sun shining on my cheeks.
It's also a big tradition for our family to take part in the famous Minute-to-Win-it game challenges!! We had a blast competing against each other. This year's challenges consisted of the booty shaker (as shown below), rubber band shooting contests, potato dropping contests, oreo face races, and balloon + cup blowing contests.
Drew and I dominated at the rubber band shooting contest. I won him the first round, but he ended up beating me the second time around. But hey-- we're both pretty dang good at shooting them so watch out!
Also, my dad found an odd shaped cinnamon bear in his bag of cinnamon bears that I thought looked like a sloth... So I kept it. But I eventually ate it.
If any of you know me, you know that I absolutely love sloths. I have since I was in 2nd grade.
So if you ever want to get me a present, I wouldn't mind a sloth t-shirt or sloth stuffed animal or sloth toy figure.
That's all for now.
Love,
Kate

Welcome to Hansen Stadium!

This is our view from our porch! We're pretty fortunate to live right next to the university. And not to mention, the "Hansen" Stadium. How cool is that!?
We love our little apartment. Luckily we have an extra room for storage right now! I don't think we could fit everything we have without that second room. Thank goodness!
Below is a pic of my fun little project of frames and mirrors that I mixed and matched together. I love it!
And these are our fun pillows. The ones on the very far left and very far right were actually made by my great-grandma Lynn Jones. They are beautiful and I am so lucky to have them! They'll definitely be cherished forever.
Although our apartment isn't much right now, it sure is fun to dress it up a bit here and there!
We'll be here for at least a year. We're not sure where we'll be in a year, but hopefully it will be somewhere near.. especially because we like the ward we are in so far! Guess we'll see how this next year goes.
Above is just a little clutter of things that I put together. I made the top left frame full of pictures by finding a frame at D.I., discarding of the glass, spray painting it blue, and then collecting mine and Drew's instagram pictures, printing them, and stringing them on thin string across the frame. It's a fun and cheap way to display some the pictures we took before we were married!!
The above picture is located in our kitchen, :) and below is our bedspread + pillows!
We LOVE it!!!
My wonderful grandma Micki made us these cute pillows as a gift. She is so incredibly talented!!!
We always go to bed with a goodnight kiss and we always wake up with a "good morning beautiful/hi there handsome!"
That right there is the best way to wake up every morning.
And this pic below is the best I could do with our bathroom for now. I used some of our wedding decor in here (if you didn't recognize the blue, yellow, and green already) and we got the cute subway art sign as a gift.
So there is a rough tour of our funny little home right now.
I have some projects I am looking forward to in the near future. I will be posting before and after pictures for those future projects but they most likely won't be finished till it starts getting cooler here. It's pretty hot almost every hour of the day here so I think I will wait till October or November to face those projects!
(Future projects will include painting, staining, and reupholstering our table and chairs, and painting our rocking chair and end table to our couch.)
Wahoo for creating a home!
Love,
Kate
ps. I definitely can't wait to have my own house someday though.. that's for sure ;)
