Lila's first birthday

I had a lot of emotions coming up to this day. Tons of memories came swarming back which brought a long many emotions and feelings. Mainly all good things! I can't believe my baby was born a year ago. It was the fastest/slowest year of my life. Fastest because it was full of new things every day! Fun experiences, laughter, overflowing joy, and love! Slowest because of the lack of sleep haha.. But definitely a year of growth. I have learned to have so much patience. I thought I was patient before Lila, but I have learned (and continue to learn) how much patience is required to be a mom! It is a good thing though, and I am proud of myself!

After reminiscing over old photos and videos in anticipation for this day, my heart was already full when it approached! Because of that, I think I wore myself out emotionally haha because by the end of the day I was exhausted. However, we kept her birthday really simple and easy going and I liked it like that.

Morning came and we surprised Lila by putting balloons in her crib and singing Happy Birthday to her! She LOVED it!! She was so happy! We played for quite a while and took lots of pictures. I will definitely have to do this for my future kids too. It was SO CUTE and SO FUN!

After we played for a while, we then made some breakfast. Chocolate chip pancakes with scrambled eggs, a cutie, and a piece of a banana. All three of us enjoyed it, but she mainly loved the cutie. She eats them almost every morning and can scarf a whole one down in just minutes if I let her!

We took it easy for most of the day. We went to Rigatti's for lunch and ordered pizza. We sat upstairs in their restaurant and had the whole place to ourselves! It was cute and quaint and really special! The food was also delicious and of course Lila loved it too. (Pizza is her favorite).
^Rigatti's all to ourselves^

After Rigatti's we stopped by Sonic and got a peanut butter cookie dough shake to share. Lila really liked it! And of course I did too :)

Later that evening Bill and Linda came down to spend some time with us. We had Lila open a couple gifts from us, ate leftover pizza for dinner, and then eventually gave Lila a bath. I let her have a bubble bath! Her first ever bubble bath, actually. And of course she loved that too!! She kept trying to scoop up all the bubbles with her hands. It was the cutest thing! She was so serious about it, it was funny!

She went down rather quickly because she had been kind of grumpy during the later afternoon. I personally think she is cutting her 4th molar. And teething is not fun at all!

After she went down we enjoyed some tres leches cake without her (haha so sad) and then after Bill and Linda left, my friend Tiana came over to visit! We were sad she missed Lila, but it was still fun to see her for a short moment.
^Lila calls this "num num!" She loves the whipcream!^
And that sums up her simply wonderful first birthday. We sang to Lila all day long. We played with her, read her books, watched her favorite music videos, had tickle wars, and loved her all day long! I hope she felt it! Because she is sooo loved!

I LOVE YOU BABY GIRL!! Thank you soooo much for making me a mother, one whole year ago.

Love,

Kate
