Our plans happened sooner than we had thought. Drew came home from work on Wednesday and told me about the snow storm coming our way. We decided to leave that night for our big Christmas weekend!
I rushed to finish the laundry, complete all my last minute projects, and organize and pack all that we would need for the next 6 days. It was a big task! But we did it and were on the road in good time. We made it to Cedar and lucky for us, the snow came the next day!
It is so weird to me to wear short sleeve shirts down in St. George and be able to take the garbage outside without freezing to death, whereas in Cedar or Richfield it's a whole different story! But I love how cold it is and I LOVE the snow! It is so pretty and so magical! Especially for the holiday season.
Lila didn't show too much interest in it. However, she knew that it was colder in Cedar than at home and was easily willing to put her coat/jacket on, or bundle up with socks and warm clothing.
Thursdsay turned out to be a fun day! We celebrated the boys' birthday that day. We had their annual birthday sushi dinner, opened some presents, and ate some cake! The sushi was delicious (as always), and Lila was so funny!! She saw all of us using chopsticks to eat our food and wanted some as well. When I gave her a chopstick she jabbed it into her food and brought it directly to her mouth! It was awesome! We were all laughing so hard. It was so cute!
The boys both got Jazz tickets from their parents and some sweet Jazz socks to wear to the game. Drew also ended up getting a video camera (YAY!). Drew said, "Now I can be a cool dad!" hahah!
After celebrating with the family, Drew and I met up with some of his buddies over at Logan and Ellen's house while Linda and Katie watched Lila. It was fun to see his friends and to catch up with them.
Friday was the only day that didn't show any snow on the weather forecast so we debated all day long on when to leave for Richfield. We had plans to celebrate Christmas with his family that evening but we would have to wait for Bill to get home from work. He works for UPS and this time of year is insanely busy for him. He works 12-14 hour days and lately hadn't been getting home till 7-8 pm.
We chose to wait for him to get home! We ate a delicious roast beef dinner on a beautifully set table and as soon as Bill got home we opened presents. We exchanged gifts first and then finished up by opening the gifts the parents got us all. It was so much fun!! Lila loved opening the gifts and there were some really fun surprises in there!
This year we got Linda an essential oil diffusing bracelet (because she loves essential oils). We got Bill an amber necklace to help with his kidney disease. We got Katie a personalized stainless steel mug that has a photo of Lila on it and words that say, "Best Aunt Ever!" And we got Mark and Cally shot gun shells, clay pigeons, and a clay pigeon thrower :)
Drew got a penny board, clothes, a big shop-vac, and 72 hour kits! I got yellow barstools, a desk light for my artwork, a big paper cutter, and some clothes. Lila got a fun xylophone toy, a sloth book, tons of cute clothes, and some Dr. Seuss books!
We kept our gifts in Cedar so we wouldn't have to load them up to Richfield. We flew out the door as soon as we were done and luckily Lila fell right asleep! We arrived at 10 pm in Richfield and the roads were perfect for us the entire way. BLESSINGS.
We missed the snow completely, but woke up to snow covered ground the next morning!
Anyways, thank you BIG TIME to Bill and Linda for all the thoughtful and fun gifts, for spoiling Lila, and for always helping us feel comfortable when we stay over. We love you guys and are so grateful for you!
