Drew and I got to visit my family in Richfield over the weekend and we had a blast!!! We went up to celebrate my little sister's birthday. Also,
Elder Bednar just so happened to be visiting Richfield to speak at our stake conference on Sunday and so we got the pleasure of listening to him as well!
Oh and not to mention, we celebrated our three month anniversary! Wahoo!! Happy married life to us!!!
It was seriously like heaven being home with Drew and my family. We enjoyed being together. We spent time roasting smores around the fire, visiting with extended family, eating good food, and celebrating birthdays.
Funny story:
I was at Walmart with my mom and was walking down the aisle to find her. I passed a group of middle school aged boys and one of them said, "Woah! Woah! You look like Taylor Swift!" I looked over at him awkwardly for a split second and just kept walking. I didn't know how to react!
When I found my mom I told her what they had said and we got a kick out of it and thought it was pretty cute. But then as we were leaving Walmart and walking out of the doors, those same boys were standing in the back bed of a truck and they all yelled at the same time, "We love you Taylor!!!"
I busted up laughing it was so funny!
So apparently with my new bangs -and natural hair color- I look similar to Taylor Swift ha ha!
But on a more serious note, we got to attend stake conference on Sunday and listen to Elder Bednar!
We planned to arrive early at the stake center so that we could get a spot... but even 40 minutes early wasn't early enough!!! The stake center was too full and they wouldn't let us in. My entire family and I was sooo bummed. We had been looking forward to listening to him and seeing him for quite a while and now we wouldn't be able to be in his presence.
We headed to the tabernacle to watch the broadcast of the meeting. There were a bunch of people there too because they couldn't get in to the stake center either.
As the meeting started there were a couple breaks in the audio of the broadcast which resulted in light gasps throughout the congregation. I'm sure everyone was hoping and praying in their hearts that the audio would kick in and work throughout the entire meeting-- especially when Bednar was speaking.
Well the audio kicked back into shape and we were able to hear and see the broadcast perfectly...
until Elder Bednar began to talk.
We saw him stand and begin speaking and then absolute silence. His mouth kept moving and his hands would make motion but there was no sound.
HUGE GASPS.
It was so disappointing. The audio didn't work at all for the remainder of the meeting and I fought through tears and prayed with all my heart that somehow we'd have a miracle.
After about 40 minutes someone stood up to tell us that they were communicating with the people over at the stake center-- they knew we weren't able to hear any of Elder Bednar's talk and maybe just maybe Elder Bednar would be willing to come bare his testimony after the meeting got over.
Well sure enough the entire meeting got over and the man stood up again to inform us that Elder Bednar was ON HIS WAY!!!
We all stood up and began singing hymns. The spirit in the room was incredible.
Elder Bednar arrived and spoke to us and it was wonderful. When he ended, he said that although he wasn't able to shake hands at the stake center, he would get to here if we wanted to.
WOAH!
So after the meeting got over we stood in line as a family and eventually got to meet him and his wife!!!
What a sweet tender mercy from our Heavenly Father.
It was such a marvelous experience...
An experience that can be likened to so many different scripture stories and gospel principles..
A trial of faith...
A test of our patience...
An experience of a lifetime...
One that Drew and I will remember forever.
The gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints IS the true gospel on this Earth and our Heavenly Father loves us so much.
Jesus Christ lives and this is His
church and I am so grateful to be a member of it!!
Love,
Kate
