Fishlake with the Hansens

We have been planning our annual trip to Fishlake with Drew's family since our first trip from last year. Plus, this was Lila's first trip to Fishlake!
We got to stay in Grandma Micki and Grandpa Doug's cabin because although it is for sale, it still hasn't sold yet. It's bittersweet! Sweet because we got to stay there again, but bitter because we will all be so sad to see it sell.
Drew trying out Cally's bike. He zoomed right off it was so funny!

He went on a ride with his brother Mark, and turns out that Drew of course biffed it around a corner.. haha sorry Drew!
The weekend was fun! We headed up to Fishlake on June 9th, Bill's birthday. We got there right in time for dinner so we all headed over to Bowery for dinner. We were almost the only ones in the restaurant so that was fun! Drew ordered the yummiest mac'n'cheese I have ever tried, and I got deliciously grilled garlic shrimp! We let Lila try a lemon for the first time ever and she didn't even react at all!? It was so funny. It turned out to be a really fun night! We ended the evening back at the cabin with some banana cream pie.

We spent the next day lounging around the cabin, taking in all of the beauty that surrounded us. It was a simple, yet perfectly relaxed day. Mark and Cally made us shrimp and sausage gumbo. It was new for me! It actually turned out pretty good. My dad and Konner showed up that evening and brought up some cobbler for us to cook. We put it in the oven and headed up to the overlook on the four wheelers while Mark and Cally rode their motorcycles. It was so fun! It was just me and drew, Mark and Cally, and Katie. We took lots of fun pictures and got some video footage too! We arrived back to the cabin just in time for the rest of my family to show up and right in time for cobbler. My family stayed at the Jensen cabin for the weekend so it was fun to be around everyone.

The next day Mark and Cally left. But we still went to the lake and rented a pontoon for the day. Unfortunately the weather was a bit crazy! It was really windy and cloudy. Luckily it didn't rain on us like it did last year. But we still went out on the lake anyways! It was me, Kambry, Bill, Drew, and Katie. There were hardly no other boats on the lake at this time so we should have taken a hint, but we still faced the roaring waves. The boat smacked them so hard we all got sprayed from the water! It was actually really terrifying. I stood up the entire time trying to keep my balance and trying not to get wet! It was kind of a surreal experience because of the choppy/scary water. But Bill is a good driver and Drew was the only one to catch a fish that trip.

The other kids went out later that evening and just MY luck, the weather was good and they caught a few more fish! I am glad they had a good time. I was too tired anyways to go back out and plus I missed my Lila girl.
We watched Zootopia that evening with everyone and it was fun! I loved the movie!

Lila LOVES Max. We sat her one him and she was so happy! Max was pretty chill about it too!

But then Max just laid down out of nowhere while she was still on him, funny dog!
The next day was Sunday-- our last day of our trip. We soaked it in as much as possible! Drew and I went out to our tree and carved Lila's name by our heart. That was special :) We also went out to the Bum Rock with Kambry and Konner and found Chelsea and Cade Penney's geocache. We read through the many stories people had written in the notebook that was part of the geocache and it made me teary! I thought it was so neat! Bill wrote in it and we got to see what he said... he said he was out there with Max having a good day. It was really cute. Then we snapped a picture with their disposable Polaroid camera that went along with the notebook and geocache and headed back to the cabin.

We cleaned and said goodbye to the Hansen's and then spent a couple hours at the Jensen cabin before heading back to St. George. Lila seemed to like Fishlake! She loved looking around at both cabins and seemed comfortable and happy. We shared a bed that whole weekend-- just me and her. Drew slept out in the family room with his siblings.
Overall, it was a wonderful and successful fishlake trip with the Hansens! I am glad we got to spend another year up at my grandparent's cabin.
Fishlake is my favorite place on earth and I can't wait for Lila to be able to look back someday and see that she has been coming here since she was a baby :) I hope she loves it as much as I do someday!

Love.

Tending a 2.5 month old!!!

I tended another little baby the other night alongside taking care of Lila. It was amazing because I as I fed Lila to go down for bed, I rocked the other baby in the rock'n play. However, he got fussy so I unlateched Lila, set her down in the corner of the rocking chair, and soothed the baby boy. The amazing thing about it was that Lila didn't make a peep. She was completely content and let me soothe him and put him to sleep before I could finish feeding her. It was almost like she knew that I needed some help... like she knew what I was doing and knew that I needed her to cooperate with me and she did just that!

It was a miracle. I definitely had a little glimpse into heaven and I know that Lila will be the best big sister someday :) haha.. key word, SOMEDAY. But honestly my love for her is infinite. I'm so happy she's mine for eternity. I love her with all my heart and more!

Lila's first picnic!

We went on the funnest little date the other night. We decided to give ourselves $20 to spend and went to the new Harmons out in Santa Clara. We toured the entire store and then decided on getting a thing of sushi, a fruit bowl, and two sodas.

The new Harmons was amazing! It doesn't even feel like a typical grocery store. It's beautiful. Can you even imagine that? ha ha

We took our little picnic food out to a park, found a spot on the grass in the shade, and laid out our picnic blanket! The weather was just right, not too hot. We ate our fruit and our sushi with chopsticks and enjoyed our sodas.

Lila enjoyed being outside with us too! It was such a simple but special little experience for us. Definitely a memory I'll never forget.

Can't wait for more picnics with my cute little family!

Love,
Kate
