12 Dates of Christmas with Drew!

One night when I got up to soothe Lila in the middle of the night I had an idea come to me! I knew I had to write it down because I knew I would forget it if I didn't. I came up with the idea to create 12 date nights for Drew and I to do before Christmas! I thought of all 12 dates that same night and planned it out to surprise Drew. And it worked!
I made cards with associating numbers for Drew to read each day so he would know what date we would be doing each night! We will end the eve before Christmas eve and plan to exchange our yearly ornaments with each other :) Here is how our "12 Dates of Christmas" went!

12."Dear Drew, please join me for 12 Dates of Christmas this year! To start off, let's get hot cocoa and drive the light route around St. Goerge when the sun goes down."

11. "Join me for a date tonight to paint Lila's hands for her first Christmas ornament. It will be a memory that will last forever!"

10. "Let's snuggle up and watch a Christmas movie tonight (your choice) and we'll enjoy some popcorn too."
9. "Please join me for a baby-free dinner date. Choose one! (He chose Texas Roadhouse. Yum!)
We picked up some sugar cookies and made those afterwards, plus played Uno with Shay when we got back! (Thanks Shay for tending Lila for us!)

8. "Join me for a double date tonight! We will play games and enjoy Tim Tam slams with Suzanna and James."

7. "Let's enjoy a simple evening listening to Christmas music and seeing the lights at the temple and town square." Unfortunately this one did not happen but we did get to eat Ben & Jerry's by the light of our Christmas tree haha!
6. "Join me in the kitchen later this afternoon to help bake sugar cookies and decorate them too!"

5. "Let's you, me, & Lila enjoy a little date to see the animals at the pet store! I can't wait to see Lila's face light up!" And sure enough, it did!

^This is by far the biggest dog I have EVER seen!! It was scary!^
4. December 20th, Drew's birthday. "Happy Birthday! How does lunch sound? And after work please join me for the new Star Wars movie Rogue One! We can eat popcorn, sprite, and junior mints!"
(Didn't get a picture of this one, darn! But it surew was fun!)

3. "Let's take a stroll by town square tonight to see the pretty lights." Unfortunately we didn't get around to doing this one either because our plans changed and we headed up to Cedar sooner than we thought!

2. "Join me for a special date as we read Christmas books and drink eggnog together."

1. "Lastly, thanks for being the best husband and father for me and Lila and for always being a good sport about my crazy ideas. Let's exchange our ornaments today! We will do it every Christmas eve from here on out.. Let's make more memories together!"
^The ornament Drew chose to represent the past year 2016^
^The ornament(s) I chose to represent 2016. This one in honor of Christ being born obviously, but also in honor of our little Lila!
^This is the second ornament that came with the first. I thought it was also fitting because Lila LOVES santa and especially loves to say his name when she sees him! I never want to forget that!
It was such a fun experience! I hope we can keep this tradition going every year! It has brought us closer, and has provided simple but wonderful little memories and experiences for us + Lila that bring the Christmas spirit into our lives. We have loved it!

Love,

Kate
