Conference Weekend in Fishlake

The muzzleloader hunt started during the middle of the week however I wasn't able to get up to Fishlake to hunt until the weekend. Kambry and I headed up Friday evening with Lila. We got to road hunt before the sun went down and we just drove up around the lake. It was such a beautiful drive we were all dying from the colors of the leaves!!! It was jaw-dropping!

There were also cows EVERYWHERE and Lila was soooo intrigued! She was nervous about them at first but shortly became obsessed with them! She started leaning towards the window and would freak out when she couldn't see them anymore or when I would roll the window up! It was a hoot! We were laughing and laughing. It was so much fun :)

The next morning Kambry stayed at the cabin with Lila while my dad and I went out to hunt. It was a fun morning and we saw some bucks but had no luck. I couldn't wait to get back to Lila I missed her so much (haha only after like 4 hours) but when we got back to the cabin they weren't there!? So we walked up to Brett's cabin thinking maybe that's where they were but nope. So finally we went over to the Hansen cabin and sure enough there they were! Grandpa doug had bacon and eggs cooking and Lila was there in her cute camo so excited to see me! It was soooo adorable she looked so cute! --Thanks kam for taking care of her!

We watched the saturday morning session of general conference with grandma micki and grandpa doug and ate delicious bacon, eggs, and toast. It was all pure heaven. Being there in the cabin surrounded by the beautiful fall colors and the vibes of fall.... aaaah it was so wonderful!
^This was the craziest most beautiful heavy fog near the bum rock on Mytoge road.^

We road hunted again that evening but this time on four-wheelers. At this time my mom had come up so she stayed at the cabin with Lila. Once again no luck, but it was an awesome four-wheeler ride through some gorgeous country! I road on the back of Kambry and Konner on the back of my dad. At one point I was videoing Kambry and I and saw a fourwheeler behind us. We both laughed and felt embarrassed because we didn't know he was behind us but it turned out he knew what we were doing and actually was going to speed up so he could be in our video! Glad he had a sense of humor because we sure got a kick out of it too!

The next morning I went out again with my dad and this time Kambry too. We had a game plan to go out a big earlier than we did the day before and hike up and over to a specific spot to see if we could watch the bucks come up to us. It worked! We spotted the bucks and got positioned for a shot. Kambry videoed me but I didn't shoot for what seemed like forever. I couldn't get comfortable and plus the deer were around 250 yards away --which is a long shot for a muzzleloader!!-- I was also hesitant because I didn't want to shoot a deer that would turn out to be smaller than the previous bucks I've got. So I wasn't sure! My dad was sitting right next to me glassing and trying to tell me which one to shoot at. There were like 4 maybe 5?? I'm not even sure haha... anyways I finally got a shot and it turns out that I missed so my dad handed me his muzzleloader and told me to shoot again! He also said something else but I could not hear him at all. My ears were ringing! So I got a second shot. My adrenaline was going crazy! It was so exciting! But I missed again. To be sure we hiked out to where the deer were and looked allllll over for blood but didn't find any.
^The view I came home to on the last morning. My heart melted!!!^

Although I wasn't successful hunting this year I still had such a fun time with my family! And getting a shot a the deer was worth it too! We spent the rest of the day lounging around the cabin. Grandma Carol and Grandpa June came up to spend the day as well so it was fun to visit with them.
We stopped in Cedar on our way home like we always do but this time met up with Drew because we hadn't seen him for a week. It was nice for us to all be back together again. He took us back to St. George and that concludes the weekend!

Love,

Kate
